About

Barkley Cove is the band to watch in the new folk scene. Raised on collaborative songwriting, rich vocal harmony, and the folk revival records of the 60s and beyond, members Jillian Dolan (guitar), Yusuf Miller (mandolin), Silas Gross (banjo), and Robert Myers (bass) mix genres of folk, rock, country, and bluegrass to create a distinctly original sound that will linger in your ear long after the last chord. As their reach expands throughout the United States, Barkley Cove's imaginative songwriting and dedication to originality continue to push the boundaries of new folk music.

Our newest single, Cecilia, is out now. Written during our first gathering in the basement practice rooms of Millersville University, Cecilia is the tune that first defined our fellowship. Each verse and harmony was created to explore our synchronicities as musicians, a theme reflected in the lyrics. Cecilia reflects the universal experience of departure and arrival, and the uncertainty that comes with every new journey.

“Cecilia was the song that brought Barkley Cove together. Before that writing session, we had no idea how well we’d connect creatively. But everything just clicked—the flow, the laughter, the harmonies, the improvisation, the conversations. It set the tone for what we could become and gave us a beautiful foundation to keep growing from.” - Jillian Dolan

“I had been listening to ‘Another New World’ at the time, a Punch Brothers cover of a Josh Ritter song. I was struck by the drama that comes with a voyage and the process of stepping into an unknown arena. At the same time, a good friend of mine was moving to Rome from our hometown in Pennsylvania and I imagined she must be feeling that same sense of drama. Those were the patterns I was reminded of when Silas came up with the riff.” - Yusuf Miller
